15 Things you need to pack for Misty Waters 2018!

We took the liberty to create a list of 15 things we think you should pack!

Whether you are a regular festival goer or Misty Waters is your first, don’t worry we have got you covered!

1: Tent

Misty Waters Tent

Seeing as the Weekend Pass tickets include bush camping, it is important to bring your camping gear. Unless you want to look like a total fool, we suggest you practice setting up your tent before you get here. Ladies, if you start setting up and the tent ends up looking like a sad jellyfish, just flutter your eyelashes and ask some local “boerseun” to do the hard work. It’s a win-win situation, you’ll have a tent and he’ll feel manly (off-course we are not speaking from experience).

2: Roll up mat and sleeping bag

We know the car space is limited and you will be tempted to leave one of these – DON’T!  Your future self will have a stiff neck, back problems and icy toes that won’t thank you.  This is not a great way to start a day full of jumping, dancing and trancing.  An extra blanket is always handy and it can double up as a picnic blanket during the day.

3: A torch

“You light up my world like nobody else” – Your future self.

It is not fun to trip over a stranger’s tent pole after a long night or on the way to the bathroom.

4: Toiletries

Yes, you’re probably going to look like Edward Scissorhands or a Medusa creature anyway, but it is worth a try! Pack some dry shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, moisturiser and while you are at it throw in some mosquito repellent and doom.  You never know what night creatures would like to cuddle.

Lake Umuzi Kamp Oase has modern ablution blocks with warm showers but for the lazy ones we would advise having wipes at hand.

5: Sunscreen

Have you ever seen those seriously, old looking men and women that resemble a sun dried raisin? You don’t want to look like that! Please stock up and protect your skin.

6: Booze

Weekend Pass holders can bring in cooler boxes!

Remember to decant your alcohol into plastic bottles as no glass is allowed on the festival grounds.

7: H20

Keep hydrated kids!  The number one rival of a hangover is water, so make sure you drink lots of it, especially during those scorching sunny hours of the day.

8: Stacks of snacks

Partying people need sustenance.  We have 6 food trucks on the festival grounds with a variety of foods, but it is always nice to have chips, popcorn, chocolate and various kinds of fruit specimens at hand for those cravings you are bound to have.

9: Clothes

For the guys – you’ll probably need two t-shirts (one must be the Misty Waters 2018 shirt), two pairs of shorts, a pair of jeans and a hoodie. For the girls – throw in a dress and leggings in the mix.  Undies and a warm jacket is essential.  You may want to beat the Medusa vibes and dress up a little.  Remember 70’s Bohemian vibes are in! Think fringe, lace, suede, patchwork, florals and super-size sunnies.

10: Durable and comfortable shoes

You will either love or hate your feet by the end of the weekend, so try giving your feet some TLC with a nice comfortable pair of  tekkies or vellies!

11: First aid kit

Bring a basic medical kit with plasters, a bandage, antiseptic cream, pain killers and any other meds you might need. Rather be safe than sorry!

12: Mobile charging device or extra phone/ camera battery

Remember, if it is not on Social media, it might as well not happen.   Don’t deprive the world from your “I’m living the dream life at Misty Waters” Instagram posts!

Be prepared – we have various electricity points but it is advised to bring a multi-plug.  *Please try not to overload the electrical plug!*

13: Cash

It is always handy to have extra cash on hand even though all the bars at Misty Waters will have card facilities.  We cannot guarantee that all the food trucks have card facilities.  No point in going from jumping to hangry (hungry and angry) because of lack of planning.

14: Printed Ticket

Please print your TIXSA ticket and bring to the ticket office where you will receive a Weekend armband.

15: A book

Just kidding. Don’t be boring!

There you have it folks. If you think we have forgotten anything don’t be selfish, comment in the Misty Waters 2018 event on Facebook and warn-a-brother!
