Misty Waters 2020 – 2nd Artist Announcement

We are thrilled to release the second artist announcement of Misty Waters 2020s… [Drum roll].

First up, the one and the only… KAREN ZOID!

Over the past 10 years, Zoid’s albums achieved gold status, she received a SAMA for Best Female Artist, won numerous other awards and performed with international artists like John Mayer, Annie Lennox, Metallica, and Hothouse Flowers.

TIME Magazine and US News & World Report highlighted her role as an icon in South African music. She is dubbed by several as the South African “Queen of Rock”.

2. The Black Cat Bones

Misty Waters has a reputation for getting the best of the South-African rock scene on our stage. The Black Cat Bones is definitely part of that list.

This diverse 4-piece rock act emerged from being an underground sub-culture champion to a group that is adored nationwide by the constantly expanding following.

3. Tidal Waves

Original reggae music for original people, that is what Tidal Waves is all about. Their sound has a strong, traditional African feel with a touch of rock, ska and blues.

Tidal Waves pour out snaking bass grooves, bouncing beats, soulful keys, and uplifting multilingual lyrics with an integrated finesse that feels effortless.

4. Basson Laubscher & The Violent Free Peace

Basson Laubscher needs no introduction, he is respected as one of the great guitarists in the country.

That brings us to The Violent Free Peace – they are a collective of top musicians, who together with Basson, creates a fresh and original foot-stomping, rock ‘n roll performance with a hint of country and blues.

5. The Amblers

The Amblers are a folksy, Blues Rock duo hailing from the vibrant and diverse music industry in South Africa. The two have a broad range of both local and international musical influences from Southern Gypsy Queen and The Black Cat Bones, to The Rolling Stones and Jack White.

Their approach to music is raw but not unpolished, lending authentic energy to huge drums and dirty, vintage guitar tones.

6. Soundwarmers

This band combines popular sounds of the guitar and pounding bass, the soothing innocence of the flute the wild beats of the African drum and versatile vocal harmonies, coupled with thought-provoking, yet inspiring lyrics to bring about the funk-inspired Afro-tribal musical hue that is the Soundwarmer.

7. Indie Dog

Indie Dog can be described as a new blend of rock, blues, indie and funk that gets in your bloodstream and fills your body with raw energy.

8. Van Reg en Rede

These newbies, from Potch, released their first single “De Wet Straat” in November 2019. We see a bright future for this Afrikaans punk rock band.

9. Monkeys

This four-piece folk-rock band, formerly known as Monkeys in Boots. Although re-branded, they assure fans that they will remain true to their musical roots.

We look forward to seeing some new releases leading up to Misty Waters 2020.

10. L.A. Cobra

Breaking away from current modern rock and nu Metal trends L.A Cobra combines elements of hard-hitting 80’s rock with just enough sleaze and humor to rock the party.

11. Pilgrim South

Even though their pilgrimage to Misty Waters will be a short one, this Secunda based rock band has a passion for music.

Their meaningful lyrics announced that they have something to say and will not keep quiet until their voices have been heard. Welcome to Misty Waters’ line-up guys!

Only 77 days until Misty Waters 2020. Dust out your camping gear and get ready. This is going to be EPIC!!
