Misty Waters 2020: We’re back…

After a hiatus that felt like forever, we are back and ready to continue our planning where we left off in March. Misty Water 2020 is relaunching and to say that we are exhilarated to start this process again is an understatement.

We are not comparing ourselves to the Olympics at all, but let’s just say, next year in 2021 it is the Summer 2020 Olympics – next year in 2021 it is Misty Waters 2020. We have kept our promise of not canceling Misty Waters and our promise is stronger than a 7 year-old’s pinkie promise. Hence, we are presenting you lovely festies and rockers with Misty Waters 2020 in 2021.

This long weekend of music bonanza is occurring from March 19 to 21. Most of the bands who would’ve played at this year’s Misty Waters are still jamming at Misty 2020 next year. Let’s give a quick recap of what you can expect from the long weekend in the bands department.

The man with the strong jawline to match his music career, Arno Carsten with Springbok Nude Girls – these boys will rock the bubble gum off of your boots! Two of our Misty Waters veteran bands Hellcats and The Black Cat Bones are returning and are sure to bring all the right energy. Speaking of the right energy, the band known for their original reggae and uplifting beats, Tidal Waves, will also show face. Local Secunda bands to embark on their very first Misty Waters journey are Pilgrim South and Saving Oliver.

His name says it all – Steve Umculo is the music man, and he will be there to ensure the happiest of music can be heard. Our four favourite old souls are returning and we are so excited that Wolfgang Marrow will grace the Misty stage once more. You can expect to see The Lectric Monks and Bloumoord too, along with the Afrikaans legends, who became the first Afrikaans artists to reach #1 on Apple Music’s Charts, Spoegwolf!

Why don’t you “shake that thing” for The Tazers and raise the roof for Karen Zoid! Yes, South Africa’s “Queen of Rock” will be at Misty Waters next year. Other legends to look forward to are Murray., Akkedis, Jackal and the Wind, Double Sun, Black Water, Die Wasgoedlyn, Shared Address, Gert Vlok Nel, The Amblers, Safety First!, Indie Dog, Stephen Jonathan, Soundwarmers, Van Reg en Rede, Monkeys, L.A. Cobra and #SOZLOL!

There you have it boys and girls! The line-up that’s about to make rock festival history. Even though these bands make us all tremble at the ankles, there’s more to Misty Waters than just a head-banging line-up. Foodies and shopaholics we’ve got you too. There will be plenty of stalls to keep you entertained during the weekend, from pizza cones to chocolate edibles, and genuine-leather sandals to real hippie attire. Everything you could need and more squeezed into one long weekend of absolute amusement.

Make sure you purchase your ticket as soon as possible, considering that there are limited tickets available. You have the options of general camping and Kamp Oase tickets. For the festie who doesn’t feel like cramping in a tent with his/her buddies, there are various hotel and lodging options walking distance of the Misty Waters venue. You can choose between The Merchant Hotel, InnGreen at Lake Umuzi, and Umuzi Lodge chalets. These are all extremely comfortable, yet affordable accommodation and better than any other rock festival in South Africa can offer this close in proximity to the festival location.
