Festivals for days…

During the September school holiday, Lake Umuzi was a beehive of activity with loads to do for young and old. On Friday, 20 September, Lake Umuzi Oktoberfest kicked off with beer specials of R25.00 for two 500ml SAB draughts between 14h00 and 15h00. Live entertainment provided by the likes of Neil Somers, Emil Struwig and the local rock band, Pilgrim South.

On Saturday, 21 September, the excitement could be felt at Eish!! South African Kitchen, as the crowd began to gather around the big TV’s in anticipation for the World Cup Rugby game between the Springboks and Kiwis. Even though the score did not reflect a win, South African’s felt at ease. Some even said that “South Africa could afford to lose this one, but we will see New Zealand again in the final.”

AquaZone Waterpark also opened for the summer season on Saturday, children gathered in front of the doors at 10h00 awaiting the opening. Families and friends laughed and swam all weekend long.

Rocky Waters Adventure Golf provided the perfect opportunity for family and friends to show their putting skills at the 18-hole miniature golf course. Carnival Square, as per usual, was a haven for children under 1,35m, who climbed, crawled and jumped for as long as they could and wanted.

Heritage Day started with the SA Defence Force Association hosting a 2,4km fun run with a special military breakfast. Moove Motion Fitness Club Secunda, hosted a dance party at Artisan Square, with shakes, wiggles and stomping of feet.

The rest of the week continued with an array of artists at Eish!! varying from Heidi, Shared Address, Marula Boom, Hennie Jacobs, Oompa International Band, Bad Peter, Joshua na die Reën and many more.

September’s Boere Mall was held on Saturday, 27 September, with some new stalls that sold hand made products, fresh produce and much more.

Lake Umuzi would like to thank each and everyone who came and had so much fun.

Upcoming events to look forward to is the Rainbow Race on Saturday, 5 October and Lake Umuzi Klassieke Sondae with Jan de Wet on Sunday, 6 October.
