Food, Wine and Music Pairing

Ilse van Dijk Schutte grew up in Potchefstroom and always wanted to create and experience new things. She enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch for a BSc degree (Agriculture) in Viticulture and Oenology. (The science of winemaking and grape growing)   After creating exceptional wines for the last 16 years at different cellars, Ilse decided that it was time to make her dream come true of creating her own wine brand – Bemind.

Bemind started in 2015 and is a Garagiste wine cellar.  The Garagiste refers to a group of winemakers in the Bordeaux region in mid-1990. The group produced “Vins de garage”, “Garage wine” in reaction to the traditional style of red Bordeaux wine which is highly tannic and requires long aging in the bottle to become drinkable. The Garagiste developed a style more consistent perceived international wine tastes.

On 9 November Bemind will be at Ballynoran Lodge in Trichardt where a culinary feast will take place. Four-course meal each paired with a fine Bemind wine.  Because of the exclusivity of the wine, this event will only be open to 30 people.  Once this event was marketed the tickets were sold out within a day.

Ilse’s goal is to create timeless, elegant, balanced wines, that everyone will enjoy.  In her own words: “When I open a bottle of wine I want to enjoy it to the last drop. “

Pepper Beef Pie with Streamed Fresh Vegs
