It is no secret that Lake Umuzi are proud supporters of the Lions Rugby Union.
In the light of this weekend’s Super Rugby final taking place between the Emirates Lions and Crusaders at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, Lake Umuzi used this opportunity to ask Dillon Smit, who is originally from the Kosmos Country a few questions.
What was your inspiration to start your rugby career?
As a young boy I can remember watching the Springboks play, and from that day I knew that was what I wanted to do.
What is your biggest accomplishment in your career?
Definitely being part of the Lions team that went all the way to the Super Rugby final.
Name one or two things you currently do during training that you believe are keys to your success?
I rely fully on my God given talents and instincts on the field. I try not to focus on one thing but better my all round game every day.
What would be your ultimate achievement?
Playing for the Springboks.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
To never doubt my own abilities and to play without any fear.
Do you have a saying or motto that you live your life by?
My life motto is F.R.O.G. which means “Fully Rely On God”.
Lions Rugby Supporters are welcome to join us at the various entertainment venues at Lake Umuzi to watch the game on Saturday and support them as they take on the Crusaders.
